More Doctors Visits from Home? Americans Prefer Telehealth Services

Most are adept with remote scenarios today because of the pandemic. Employees work from home, students attend online classes, and families host family gatherings through video platforms. All are convenient from the comfort of home.

The same can be said for telehealth services. Here’s a hypothetical. A patient undergoes treatment, and the doctor requests follow-up appointments. The first thought that comes to mind tends to be finding the best possible day and time to make it to the doctor’s office as well as the best time to take off work if the patient isn’t already off work due to the treatment.

With telehealth services, avoid that headache and attend a follow-up appointment over the phone or on video without having to leave home or work. No need to drive, and no need to wait in a lobby. It’s no wonder why telehealth services are positively received.

In fact, more than 90% of Americans used telehealth services in the last year, and nine in ten enjoyed their experience, according to an Independa study. Independa is a TV-based platform that provides remote engagement, education and care. Through its survey, behaviors and attitudes of smart TV users and their experiences surrounding telehealth are examined.

Respondents prefer using telehealth through a TV, with 92% of American adults older than 70 prefer the ease of using the television for telehealth, according to Independa.

“Our research shows that there is a preference for using familiar technology like the television to provide more ease, comfort and accessibility to valuable health resources,” said Kian Saneii, founder and CEO of Independa.

Independa is listening to its respondents' preferences of telehealth and is at the forefront of telehealth adoption with its Health Hub built into LG TVs.

The Independa Health Hub provides consumers with bi-directional communication that allows users to connect with healthcare providers and wellness services in their homes and through the convenience of their TV screen.

The Health Hub enables smart TVs to help family members and organizations provide better care remotely, assisting older adults to be more independent. This is possible through an Independa feature, an intuitive interface that makes it easy for users to initiate a video chat with a caregiver or easily access a menu of relevant health and wellness services and benefits.

With telehealth, save on the travel, avoid the wait of an in-person appointment, and receive regular checkups with primary care through the comfort of a home.
