Healthcare Technology and News: Net Health Partners with KCI to Provide V.A.C. Therapy Integration

Net Health Systems, Inc. has released new functionality in the WoundExpert software enabling physicians to pre-populate V.A.C. Therapy authorization forms, electronically sign, and transmit via a secure link directly to KCI.

Officials with Net Health Systems said that the inclusion of this functionality is another step forward in the company’s continuing commitment to provide new efficiencies, improve ease of use, and reduce errors in wound care.

“Our clients manually process thousands of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy orders and this solution will simplify this procedure, providing significant time savings while reducing errors,” said Patrick Colletti, president of Net Health, in a statement.

Colletti said that this release is well timed and advances the company’s goal of integrating the manual and disparate documentation and reporting functions of a wound care clinic into a streamlined workflow.

Company officials said that as an Electronic Medical Record provider for wound care, the WoundExpert software is the system of choice for facilities looking for an integrated source of clinical, financial, and regulatory software while preparing to demonstrate meaningful use as defined by the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act.

Net Health’s software systems are used in over 700 facilities across the United States, representing more than 12,000 physician, clinician, and administrative users who process over 2,000,000 encounters per year.

“The partnership is a great example of how we are simplifying and improving the V.A.C. Therapy process,” said Mike DelVacchio, senior vice president, U.S. & Latin America sales & marketing, Active Healing Solutions.

DelVacchio said that WoundExpert reduces training requirements and order entry time while allowing V.A.C. prescription and authorization in one simple step.

The introduction of V.A.C. Therapy order functionality within WoundExpert will become available in May 2010.
