Healthcare Technology and News: Siemens Enterprise Communications Group Partners with Ascom Inc.


Ascom Wireless Solutions, a provider of mission-critical communications solutions and Siemens Enterprise Communications Group in North America have signed a partnership agreement to collaboratively serve their customers with end-to-end wireless solutions.
 
As per the terms of this deal, Siemens HiPath Wireless solution and Ascom's VoWiFi and IP-DECT devices will be combined to facilitate seamless, mission critical, on-site wireless voice and text communications.
 
Ascom has been specializing in the field of mobile work-place telephony for voice and critical data. The company’s IP-DECT device is a system to enable extended sales opportunities for on-site wireless communication. The VoWiFi system of Ascom is said to support a wide range of open standards, and also accommodates a comprehensive spectrum of PBXs, switches, access points and much more. The solution can be integrated with virtually any enterprise system, including ERP, fire alarms and OPC.
 
"Ascom wireless handsets have the features, functionality and reliability required in today's healthcare environments. Our purpose-built devices provide clinicians access to significantly more complex and diverse media content," said Tom McKearney, executive vice president, marketing and business development, Ascom (US), Inc.
 
"Integrating Siemens and Ascom solutions will help our healthcare customers get the right information to the right people - wherever they are," added McKearney.
 
Siemens Enterprise Communications (SEN Group) is a provider of enterprise communications solutions. The company has positioned well in the market with its "Open Communications" approach that enables teams working within any IT infrastructure to improve productivity through a unified collaboration experience.
 
SEN Group is a joint venture between the private equity firm, The Gores Group, and Siemens AG and incorporates Siemens Enterprise Communications, Enterasys Networks, SER Solutions, Cycos and iSEC.
 
Siemens delivers a comprehensive WLAN/FMC portfolio that it claims enables multiple mobile business process solutions on a single infrastructure. Combining the power of Ascom devices it is stated to be an integral client option in Siemens Unified Communications strategy.
