Electronic Patient Records Solutions See High User Satisfaction Rates

While the area of electronic medical records generates a lot of press, some people worry about security, and many healthcare groups are hesitant to move forward because of what they perceive to be the expense, the difficulty of implementation and problems with usability, the companies that offer medical records technology have sought to educate the healthcare industry on the great number of benefits of electronic patient records.

While case studies abound on successful implementation and usability of electronic patient records, case studies are just those: anecdotal evidence that many organizations take with a grain of salt, or they balance those glowing case studies against other anecdotal stories from organizations that found their transition to electronic records a nightmare.

What the industry needed was broad consensus that healthcare organizations that have made the transition are satisfied with the implementation and usability of the solutions.

One company, Rochester-based eHealth Global Technologies, Inc. (eHGT), has found some consensus based on the usability of its own solutions. The company, which offers digital medical information sharing with its eHealth Access Record Retrieval service and eHealth Connect Diagnostic Image Exchange service, recently commissioned an independent study of the effectiveness of its solutions, and has issued the results in a press release.

The survey measured eHGT's customer satisfaction in seven specific areas, including ease of use, the time it takes to retrieve records, communication effectiveness, competency, helpfulness, and quality of follow-up; all areas that are critical to the quality of care an organization can offer. Ninety-seven percent of the respondents ranked these areas “outstanding” or “good.”

The benefits this type of digital patient record bring to healthcare are numerous; services like eHealth Access Record Retrieval service combines cutting-edge technology with a customer-centric culture in an effective way to securely share even the most inaccessible medical records, images and pathology from anywhere in the world to the providers that need them. This type of information sharing can greatly increase the quality and scope of patient care that institutions can offer.
