InterSystems Corporation Announces Completion of InterSystems Ensemble Integration Platform from Kettering Health Network

InterSystems Corporation, provider of software solutions for connected care, announced that Kettering Health Network, comprehensive non-profit health center serving patients across the Dayton, Ohio area, has successfully made a transition from its previous Java Composite Application Suite (JCAPS) and its eGate integration component, to the Ensemble rapid integration and development platform developed by InterSystems.

While highlighting that the transition to Ensemble requiring development of 150 plus interfaces was accomplished within four months, Bill Hudson, Kettering Director of Technology, said, "I've been managing integration teams for 20 years and we've never had a project go as quickly and as well as the move to Ensemble. We recognized that the time was right to look at the new generation of integration technology and fast-tracked a project to examine alternative solutions. We have a strong integration team and Ensemble offers a very intuitive design and easy learning curve. In addition, InterSystems provided rapid, world-class support. For example, we typically had a response to any questions within an hour. That made a huge difference."

During the initial Ensemble production rollout process, when the IDN lost power at its primary data center, the database mirroring functionality of Ensemble enabled un-interrupted uptime for the Ensemble framework.

Jon Russell, Kettering Vice President and CIO, said, "We would never have considered this new integration project when we were using the legacy interface engine. Now, we feel comfortable taking on this new challenge--one that will make us much more agile in terms of responsiveness to the providers in our network.”

The successful transition of the first integration project, has paved the way for future roll outs of Ensemble interfaces for the IDN facilities which is expected to be completed by October. Further plans to develop new interfaces between medical staff credentialing software at Kettering and the Epic's provider files for updation and synchronization of data will be put into action once the migration phase is completed.

Paul Grabscheid, InterSystems Vice President of Strategic Planning, said, "Kettering's adoption of Ensemble as its enterprise integration platform exemplifies the trend among IDNs nationwide to embrace advanced technologies that enable connected care. We appreciate the opportunity to work with them as they move forward with new and equally innovative technology initiatives."
