eHealth Intros New Insurance Tools

eHealth, Inc., the parent company of eHealthInsurance, announced in a press release that it participated in a panel on new tools for insurance benefits and purchasing at the recent Health 2.0 conference in San Francisco.

Sam Gibbs, president of eHealth Government Systems, demonstrated a state-sponsored Florida Health Choices online health insurance marketplace, developed in partnership with Ceridian Exchange Systems LLC. Also, Gibbs spoke on the panel that included leaders from the business community and technology startups that focus on benefits and enrollment. The panel discussed new tools for helping employers make smarter health benefits purchasing decisions and how technology is changing the way employees learn about and enroll in health plans.

The Florida Health Choices online health insurance marketplace allows small businesses and employees in Florida to compare multiple health insurance products and enroll in the health plan best suited to their needs and budget.

The company recently released a mobile application that allows consumers to shop for health insurance using their smart phone. The “Better Health Insurance Finder” mobile application enables users to access individual and family health insurance plans from over 180 insurance carriers from all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Users can research, compare, and apply for health insurance plans on an iPhone, iPad or Android mobile device. For people without health insurance, the application asks users for basic information such as, birth date, zip code, and gender, then returns a list of individual and family health insurance plans offered on the eHealth platform. Additionally, users can compare plans by a number of criteria, including prices and benefits, and then begin the application process from their mobile device.
