
The 2020 Young Living Virtual International Grand Convention just raised over a million dollars for supporting and empowering youth.
The D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation is the philanthropic avenue for Young Living Essential Oils can support the community. The Foundation is focused on protecting and building up vulnerable youth in areas all over the world. Through funding schools, supporting programming for youth and improving community resources, the foundation is working to improve the lives of children in a number of countries, including the US.
Young Living Essential Oils, LC, is an essential oil producing company that promises “Seed to Seal”-certified products. Their goal is to create the best quality in oils and oil-infused products. Their claim rests on three pillars for quality: Sourcing, Science and Standards, which drive the process. The company has partnered with farms and Seed to Seal-certified partners to get products for their lines. They started with essential oils, but have expanded into body, nutrition, cleaning and pet-friendly products, most of which contain their company oils.
Essential oils are frequently used for their impact on the body. Certain oils, like Lavender or Cassia, can support calming and help with sleep. Some oils can be diffused into the air, while others are applied directly to the skin (or with a carrier oil, like coconut, to prevent burning). Young Living Essential Oils also offers cleaning products, massage oil, hygiene products and more, all containing or centered around their oils.
Each year, the company throws a Grand Convention for distributors, but 2020 was the first time using the virtual route. With COVID-19 threats restricting travel and gathering sizes, the company had to shift gears to a new online format for the annual event. During the convention, the company shows off new products and emphasizes mission goals to get distributors excited. This year the 2020 Young Living Virtual International Grand Convention showed off a new oil—One Heart. This product is set to send 35% of profits from each wholesale purchase towards mission goals for the foundation.
The One Heart oil was “Specifically blended to bring people together and help create awareness of The D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation.” The scent sparks awareness and supports a connection to inner spirituality. The blend includes Ylang Ylang, Valor, Northern Lights Black Spruce, Ocotea for Ecuador and Spearmint oils. Ecuadorian Young Living Academy graduate, Anita Perlaza is responsible for the creation of the One Heart label.
During the virtual convention, the D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation raised $1.2 million for their work with at-risk youth. Executive Director of Young Living global philanthropy Jackie Skinner said, "We recognize that our youth are the most vulnerable and exploited, but also provide the most significant capacity for change, and we are beyond excited about the new projects and how they will support this important mission."
The foundation will continue to support youth in the community and raise money with the sale of One Heart.
