HelloMD Providing World Class Health Services to Patients in China

Advances in healthcare have improved life expectancy and eradicated many of the deadly diseases that have plagued humankind for many years. However, not everyone around the world is able to take advantage of these advances, and conditions that can easily be treated in developed countries are responsible for the death of millions of people globally.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 36 million deaths are caused by non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and chronic lung diseases annually. If these conditions are diagnosed early, survival rates could increase dramatically.

A new partnership between HelloMD, provider of telehealth for a global customer base, and Crosswave Management is going to be providing Chinese patients with access to top U.S. doctors.

“China's economic emergence over the last 30 years has created enormous demand for better medical services.  Despite extraordinary gains in the quality and quantity of China's healthcare infrastructure, the gap between demand and supply of truly high-quality medical services continues to remain vast.  We are excited to partner with HelloMD to offer Chinese patients access to the best the US has to offer," said Charles Hsu, Managing Partner, Crosswave.

HelloMD is looking to expand its services to the Middle East, Russia, South America and Europe in the near future. The company’s website states its doctors set their own prices for consultations and second opinions, and online consultations and second opinion services are not covered by Medicare, or any insurance plan, and it is unable to process these with your insurance company.

Patients can use their Android or iOS based devices to receive consultations, and for individual that don’t have access to this technology, doctors can consult over a regular telephone call.

"We see tremendous opportunity in China," stated Mark Hadfield, Founder, HelloMD. "The HelloMD platform creates an efficient connection between remote patients and the best U.S. doctors. However, to do this right you also need to have a comprehensive patient recruitment strategy, with people and expertise on the ground in China. We chose Crosswave because they have an experienced team who can execute," Hadfield continued.
