Unibased Systems Releases Software to Improve Communications in Healthcare

The U.S. healthcare budget is worth several trillion dollars, and experts believe the implementation of new technology to communicate more effectively can reduce many of the waste totaling hundreds of millions of dollars. Unibased Systems Architecture, Inc., a healthcare information technology (HIT) provider with highly scalable products, announced the introduction of a new solution for improving communications between patients, physicians, and providers with the Unibased ForSite2020.

The ForSite 2020 provides better healthcare experience for the consumer with physician and consumer portals, improved revenue cycle management, operational efficiencies, and workflow management. ForeSite provides a way to increase communication between patient and physician with order tracking, EMPI, registration, scheduling, conflict resolution, and tracking the needs of the patient from the time they are admitted, released, and make the necessary follow-up.

One of the features of ForSite is a streamlined orders list that provides complete and detailed information on orders for inpatient and outpatient clients from physicians. If the orders have not been processed, questions' regarding the reason for failing to process the order along with the attempts being made to contact the patient over the phone or other means is recorded. This information can be accessed with detailed account of the events including the procedure ordered by the physician for audit purposes.

The consumer access & scheduling for healthcare (CASH) is a portal designed to improve communications with patients so they can have more control of their appointments and schedule. Using this portal patients can inform their healthcare provider whether they are going to keep an appointment or cancel. It also provides a survey mechanism in which patients can give an assessment of their experience at the facility or particular physicians. The bi-directional scheduling uses Microsoft Outlook.

"The Unibased challenge is to help the industry recognize that the vast majority of healthcare operational and consumer-related data remains in an unstructured format even after the industry-wide push on EHRs and HIEs. Unibased captures, converts, links, stores, and analyzes both unstructured and discrete data, which leads to transaction workflow monitoring to insure expeditious processing of orders, modifications, patient and resource schedules, and general distribution of information to the appropriate areas," said L.V. “Skip” Covington, Unibased Chairman & CEO.

Additional features of ForSite2020 include:

  • Monitoring the effectiveness of clinical programs, financial productivity and capacity management to improve quality, safety, and efficiency related to the coordination of care.
  • Surgery management module that coordinates surgery procedures and surgeon preferences, pre-admission activity monitoring, tissue tracking, suite utilization, materials management, clinical worker training and certification, perioperative charting, anesthesia management integration, and surgery-based EHR.
  • Improvement of communication between hospitals and physicians through its physician portal, automated order creation, and business intelligence analytics.
  • Impacts the revenue cycle through functions such as validation of patient demographics, patient’s current insurance eligibility checking, assurance of medical necessity compliance and estimation of the patient’s out-of-pocket expense based upon scheduled and ordered services.
