Butler Health to Use Ekahau's Real Time Location System

Ekahau, a developer of Wi-Fi based, real time location software and systems, recently publicized that Butler Health System, located in Butler Pennsylvania, will use its real time asset tracking and patient visibility solution. The system will aid in enhancing wait time for patients as well as restructuring hospital workflows.

Butler Memorial Hospital, Butler Health System’s flagship facility, already uses hundreds of Ekahau badges and tags that are Wi-Fi capable, which help in the monitoring of patient location. It tracks their status as well as where they are as they go through both the operating room, and the surgery center.

The badges are worn by both staff and patients, which allow caregivers to monitor their patients’ wait times and more when they’re having procedures done, thus improving decision making and workflow.

Roger Lutz, Director of Network Operations at Butler Health System stated, "Our mission at Butler Health Systems is to make a positive difference by providing compassionate, high quality care to patients and their families.” To that end, Ekahau's RTLS solution provides location-based intelligence that helps our caregivers make better decisions and improve patient experience."

While utilizing the Wi-Fi network already in place at the hospital, the Ekahau Wi-Fi tags are also used to locate needed medical equipment, which, in conjunction with the Ekahau Vision™ software, the staff is then able to find via a map.

Mark Norris, CEO of Ekahau said, "We are proud to help Butler Health Systems improve caregiver productivity while reducing patient wait times. Location-based business intelligence can improve patient experience and may support Accountable Care Organization (ACO) reimbursement models in the future.”
