Retail and Healthcare Sectors Increase Mobility with Zebra's Next Generation QLn320 Mobile Printer

Zebra Technologies Corporation, provider of bar code, kiosk, card and RFID printing and real-time location solutions, has announced the availability of its new QLn 320 mobile printer. Zebra’s QLn 320 mobile printer can effectively address an increasingly distributed and expanding mobile workforce.

In a release, Tom Wimmer, Director of the AutoID and Transaction Processing Practice at VDC said that "Demand for mobile printers continues to scale, spurred by the proliferation of secure wireless networks and the benefits associated with printing on-demand. At the same time, total cost of ownership has become a leading purchase consideration for enterprises evaluating mobile devices. Since deployment costs rarely account for more than 30 percent of TCO, knowledgeable users are increasingly focused on reducing productivity losses associated with hardware failure, and managing spiraling IT support costs. Leading mobile device suppliers understand these requirements, and are responding with smarter products designed to address them."

The QLn320 mobile printer can bring about a reduction in the cost of operation via an Ethernet connection for mobile printers which additionally results in remote status collection and enhanced device management. This can effectively cut down service time while increasing printer uptime, providing companies with better return-on-investment.

The QLn320, which includes Zebra's new Power Smart Print Technology, can enable quicker processing and supports reduced power consumption. Additionally, the 'smart battery' technology on the QLn320 informs users of the charge and overall battery health.

Kevin Davies, product manager at Zebra Technologies EMEA, commented that "Historically the QL printer line has provided our customers with the productivity and durability required to keep their businesses functioning efficiently. The innovation and expanded features of the QLn320 are a result of Zebra's deep industry understanding. We have worked with our customers to identify their pain points and meet their evolving needs as the mobility market changes."

The QLn is an improvement on the older QL models as it supports easy integration and allows users to easily upgrade to the QLn320, all without changing system infrastructure. Provisioned with Additional RAM and flash the QLn320 model’s memory for complex fonts, graphics and images, and faster throughput has been effectively enhanced and improved as has the user interface which features larger and easier to read display. The display also features a 5-way navigation, help menus and alerts.

The company’s Unicode UTF-16-compliant Global Printing Solution provides right-to-left printing capabilities, making it easier to print in many languages.
