Healthcare Technology and News: Medcor Receives URAC Accreditation for its Workplace Triage Software

Workplace health technology company Medcor, Inc., are makers of a telephonic injury triage and reporting service, Medcor On-Line, which has again received Health Call Center Accreditation from URAC, a Washington, DC-based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the health care industry.

URAC Health Call Center standards apply to organizations that provide triage and health information services over the telephone, via a Web site or other electronic means. The standards assure that registered nurses, physicians or other validly licensed individuals perform the clinical aspects of triage and other health information services in a manner that is timely, confidential, and includes medically appropriate care and treatment advice.

“We are extremely pleased that URAC has renewed Medcor's Health Call Center Accreditation for our On-Line services,” said Medcor President and CEO Philip Seeger. “URAC is a highly regarded leader in the health care accreditation industry and this distinction underscores Medcor's dedication to providing our customers with effective, medically-sound health solutions that are in compliance with national standards.”

Medcor On-Line provides employers of any size or industry with immediate access to roud-the-clock workplace injury health care screenings. Using the telephonic triage service, specially trained registered nurses can provide immediate triage and injury treatment advice to employees located in virtually any location. To date, McHenry, Illinois-based Medcor has received multiple U.S. and foreign patents for its telephonic triage process and has more patents pending. Medcor credits the success of its On-Line services to its proprietary software, Afkam, which interfaces with the claim systems of both clients and their TPA claim systems to streamline reporting processes. Employers can benefit from immediate injury reporting and a seamless integration with existing claims and case management systems, enhancing overall operational performance.

“By applying for and receiving URAC Health Call Center Accreditation renewal, Medcor has demonstrated a continued commitment to providing quality health care services,” said Alan P. Spielman, URAC President and CEO. “Quality health care is crucial to our nation's welfare and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards and undergo rigorous evaluation by an independent accrediting body.”
