Healthcare Technology and News: Gartner Names Appature as 'Cool Vendor' for 2011

Gartner, Inc. has announced the companies it chose for its “Cool Vendors in Life Sciences for 2011” report, highlighting those who “are bringing new tools to yield greater insights into data.”

Gartner chose Appature Inc. as one of its top vendors because the company felt Appature is changing the way healthcare companies do business. Appature, a Seattle-based company, provides marketing tools for the medical device, and health and wellness industries to drive sales growth and deepen brand relationships with both healthcare professionals and patients.

Appature Nexus is a cloud-based relationship marketing tool that's designed specifically for the healthcare industry and offers ease-of-use. Appature Nexus integrates multiple data sources to make customer information ready to be used while providing a platform to launch marketing applications.

Gartner defines a cool vendor as a company that offers technologies or solutions that are: Innovative, enable users to do things they couldn't do before; have, or will have, business impact (not just technology for the sake of technology), and Intriguing, because they have caught Gartner's interest or curiosity in the past six months. Each year, Gartner identifies “Cool Vendors” in key technology areas and publishes a series of research reports highlighting these innovative vendors and their products and services.

Gartner highlights cool vendors with low visibility but high-impact products and solutions. These vendors often fly under the radar while forming the leading edge of technological advancement. The full report is available through Gartner (Cool Vendors in Life Sciences, 2011

According to the report, sales and marketing executives (and the IT professionals who support them) are under considerable pressure to reach practitioners, who are less and less available, and there are even fewer sales representatives left to call on them. These professionals need to care about multichannel delivery because it is part of a well-rounded relationship marketing strategy.

Gartner’s listing does not constitute an exhaustive list of vendors in any given technology area, but rather is designed to highlight interesting, new and innovative vendors, products and services.
