Healthcare Technology and News: Health Canada Issues Medical Device License to Mobile MIM for App

Mobile MIM from MIM Software is now available on the Canadian App Store.

MIM Software, a global provider of medical imaging software, a free app has been issued for a Medical Device License by Health Canada for remote diagnostic viewing of CT, PET, MRI, and SPECT images on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

The Mobile MIM App can be downloaded for free from the U.S. App Store on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, or at www.iTunes.com/AppStore.

The solution includes sample images that will help physicians and other medical professionals to use them. These professionals can download images to the device by leveraging MIMcloud.

This Internet-based service enables secure upload and download of encrypted medical data.

Physicians are not always at their work desk but this app allows them to view images even when there are on the move. They can also measure distance and intensity values, annotate, and display regions of interest.

Because Mobile MIM App is designed as a thick client, data is downloaded to the device for viewing instead of being streamed to the device from a server.

Currently, this application is only available for use by medical professionals but the company intends to launch a second app intended for patients, VueMe.

In other healthcare news, the Massachusetts Health Connector Authority (Health Connector) recently extended its two-year agreement with Dell Services.

The healthcare technology solutions provider will deliver a range of enrollment, billing, website and customer experience services. According to a release, the agreement expands across the Health Connector program, with a large percentage of work focused on “Commonwealth Care.”
