Healthcare Technology and News: USA Mobility Acquired Amcom From Equity Firm NEP


Minneapolis based private equity firm, Norwest Equity Partners ("NEP"), recently sold its portfolio company, Amcom Software, Inc. to USA Mobility, Inc., a leading provider of wireless messaging and communications services. 

Amcom's mission-critical communication solutions are used to perform a variety of tasks across the industries. Eden Prairie, Minnesota based Amcom however, fared especially well in the clinical space. From giving heart attack patients life-saving care sooner, to alerting nurses of urgent patient needs via mobile devices, Amcom software are used for variety of medical emergencies.

Amcom solutions also used to help call center operators process requests more easily. They are also used by the 911 service providers to help emergency response teams quickly locate 911 callers wherever they are in facilities.

In a nutshell, Amcom software help connect people to each other and to the data they need. Amcom software solutions are trusted by the organizations that depend on speed, accuracy, and productivity save lives, improve efficiency, and enhance effectiveness.

The company has identified and responded to the way in which organizations have increasingly grown to rely on communications mobility, especially within clinical environments,” Jim Lindner, NEP operating partner and 40 plus year veteran of the computer software technology and services industry, noted in the release.

It will be worthwhile to mention here that NEP and Split Rock Partners jointly invested in Amcom in December, 2009.

In early 2008, Amcom Software released Amcom e.Notify 4.5, a next-generation advancement in mass notification and emergency management technology. It included a full range of mass notification capabilities.

According to Amcom, it initiates, monitors and manages day-to-day or emergency notifications of all types, automatically delivering messages, collecting responses, escalating if needed, and logging all activities for reporting and analysis.
