The healthcare industry is best served when health records can be shared effectively by various care entities. NIIT Technologies Limited acquired an electronic health records and referral management platform that enhances the portability, re-usability, integrity and history of health records.
By using an innovative SaaS-based IP that collaborates between various health centers, NIIT Technologies Limited has initiated a foray into the lucrative healthcare segment in the United States.
Called 'Preferr', the platform is a patient referral system that enables seamless connection and collaboration between physicians, hospitals, diagnostic facilities and laboratories. 'Preferr' improves continuity and quality of care for the patient and improves operational efficiencies for all practices. This is in keeping with the U.S. government's mandate that required physicians to focus on providing better patient care through electronic health record sharing amongst hospitals and other specialists.
In a press release, Lalit Dhingra, president of NIIT Technologies Inc., said that the acquisition of 'Preferr' was a major initiative to provide solutions in healthcare IT, and added, “The platform enables providers to meet federal guidelines for Electronics Health Record meaningful use criteria and will enable NIIT to pursue this space and mark its presence within the health care arena.”
NIIT Technologies’ Healthcare Division set up in Orlando is expected to create high-value jobs to manage and deploy its IT-based products and services. 'Preferr' was pioneered in Clermont by a homegrown company and founded by Pranam Bem, currently head of NIIT Technologies Healthcare division. The Preferr platform is already being used by many healthcare providers in Central Florida.
