The provider of Bluetooth-based wireless module and access device solutions to OEMs, integrators and teleoperators, Bluegiga Technologies recently introduced e-health products for medical, health and fitness applications--- the world’s first ever Continua-certified Bluetooth Gateway.
In a press release, the company said that the new Continua compatible products can be used in various health and medical applications by OEMs and system integrators. These e-health products offer an open standard, easy-to-use platform for building Bluetooth certified and Continua compliant wireless sensors and networking them to customer back end systems, the company clarified.
According to Bluegiga , its Continua-certified e-health products are ideal for an OEM or integrator planning to add gateway functionality from local wireless to wired WAN or mobile networks.
The e-health Gateway connects Bluetooth wireless sensors to back end networks through different interfaces. Available with Bluetooth Health Device Profile and optional IEEE agent and manager implementations, Bluegiga OEM modules easily integrates Bluetooth wireless technology to any sensor or device with range requirements up to 1,000 meters.

Bluegiga's Continua certified e-health Gateway for building networks and Bluetooth e-health modules for sensor end are available now,” Mikko Savolainen, Bluegiga's vice president of product management, said in a statement.
Earier this year, HealthTechZone reported the introduction of the first long range Bluetooth module Bluegiga WT41 by Bluegiga Technologies. Through a press release, the company announced that the device provides high-quality radio performance and provides +20 output power. According to Bluegiga, this is the maximum allowed in Americas, Europe and a range of Asian countries. The new device promised to offer a lot of convenience to the users as it promises to achieve 1,000 meters distance in optimal conditions and several hundreds of meters in an urban or office environment.
