Healthcare Technology and News: MedApps , CardioNet Strategic Alliance Augur Well for Wireless Healthcare

MedApps, which provides innovative eCare solutions and CardioNet, a leading provider of ambulatory, continuous, real-time outpatient management solutions, utilize wireless and m2m technologies to efficiently connect patients with their care providers and electronic health records. Hence, they formed a strategic alliance to advance their positions in the mobile wireless medical market, through their respective wireless technologies.

Although the terms of the agreement were not disclosed, the companies expect to leverage their individual strengths and work out newer and more innovative wireless monitoring solutions that would enhance patient care in a cost effective and relevant manner.

Joseph H. Capper, CardioNet's president and CEO, said that CardioNet was the industry leader in the diagnosis and management of cardiac arrhythmias with Mobile Cardiac Outpatient Telemetry and they were now seeking to expand their service offerings. He also added that when CardioNet's MCOT was prescribed, physicians, patients and payers recognized the quality and reliability of their service. He hoped that the strategic alliance with MedApps would help accelerate the entry into additional areas of monitoring and would also help enable CardioNet to extend its platform utilizing MedApps' CloudCare technology.

MedApps' CEO, Kent Dicks, regarded the alliance as an opportunity to forge an exciting collaboration between the two companies and a chance to take wireless healthcare to the next level. Both the companies, being innovators and leaders in extending the benefits of wireless technology to patient care, were sufficient to improve the delivery of healthcare.

The CloudCare technology platform will bring ease and simplicity to CardioNet's business model. By fully utilizing an intelligent cloud-based environment, MedApps distinguishes itself from its hardware-based competitors by improving all aspects of the process that affect both the enterprise and end-user, from simplifying the placing and processing of orders, to remotely updating and servicing equipment in the field.

CardioNet 's initial efforts are focused on the diagnosis and monitoring of cardiac arrhythmias, or heart rhythm disorders, with a solution that it markets as Mobile Cardiac Outpatient Telemetry MCOT.

MedApps is a recognized telehealth innovator and member of Continua, an industry consortium setting Medical Device Interoperability

In a related news release, CardioNet, Inc. announced that the 300,000th patient has been monitored with the Company's Mobile Cardiac Outpatient Telemetry service. MCOT is the first system to provide real-time wireless ECG monitoring and 24/7/365 analysis and response.
