Children’s National Medical Center, one of the premier children’s hospitals in the country, has partnered with Ingersoll Rand Global Healthcare Practice to implement Nverge, an enterprise system manager solution that Ingersoll Rand revealed at last week’s American Society of Healthcare Engineering International Summit in Phoenix.
Disparate systems at CNMC, such as their PeopleSoft human resources solution, their Schlage access control system and their time and attendance system, didn’t communicate with one another. “With our transition to PeopleSoft, we wanted to optimize our operations,” George Lei, HR Technical and Interface Coordinator at CNMC, told EMR Daily News. “The system integration using Nverge is calculated to reduce data entry hours by 50 percent and data entry errors by 70 percent.”
Nverge was designed by coordinate disconnected technologies including building management, business management, physical security and patient interaction. The solution not only creates an interconnected environment but also aggregates data to provide new levels of decision support and visualization. This improvement, Ingersoll Rand hopes, will truly improve the performance of healthcare organizations through better situational awareness that is provided through their customized dashboards and reports.
“Nverge has enabled us to look at our opportunities to enhance operations with the systems we have already invested in,” said Doug Myers, CFO and acting COO of CNMC. “We look forward to exploring the full extent of our new connected vision.”
After implementing Nverge, CNMC hopes that they will both improve the employee onboarding process and prevent former employees from accessing secure areas of both the physical building and the network. To deploy NVerge, Ingersoll Rand coordinated with the hospital’s management, physical security and information technology teams.
“Healthcare customers have told us the inability for data to flow across systems within or across departments inhibits their ability to maximize performance,” said Laura Rygielski Preston, vice president of the global healthcare practice at Ingersoll Rand. “With Nverge, healthcare organizations have the power to bring new visibility to chosen applications, make more intelligent business decisions and demonstrate the link of the physical environment to business objectives.”
