Healthcare Technology and News: Weight Watchers App Helps Users Stay on Track

Just about 3 weeks into the New Year, and as people across the world fight to keep up with their resolutions to drop weight, and get healthy, Weight Watchers, a provider of the well-known weight loss plan offering group support meetings, has announced the availability of an updated version of their Weight Watchers App.

In addition to group meetings, Weight Watchers Online and Weight Watchers eTools can now access the App via their iPhone or iTouch at no extra cost.

The push to go mobile today has been centered on the ability to have any time, any place access to tools and information.

Now users can go to the Weight Watchers App at a restaurant, grocery store, or on vacation as well as use a location-based meeting finder to ensure they’re “staying on track.”

Initially launched in September 2009, the Weight Watchers iPhone App now includes new recipes, articles and cheat sheets, which were requested by users.

Weight Watchers Online or eTools subscribers can also use the App to track their daily calories or “POINTS” and activity for the day as well as discover the calories in a specific food item before they eat it.

“We’re excited to launch the Weight Watchers App for our current subscribers and for anyone who is seeking credible health and weight loss information in an easily-accessible format for iPhone or iPod Touch,” said Peter Phillips, senior vice president at WeightWatchers.com.

“Being fully engaged with Weight Watchers can help subscribers be successful in achieving their weight loss goals and the app has been designed with this in mind.”
