Healthcare Technology and News: Cisco WebEx Online Meetings to Aid Cardiometabolic Patients

Seeking to aid a specific group of healthcare patients with developing technology, the Cardiometabolic Support Network (CMSN) reportedly has opted for Cisco‘s WebEx online meetings. Cisco will enable live, online group meetings with registered dietitians, which according to the company; will considerably reduce the costs for the patients.

Patients now have less time to travel to the hospital, in many areas, because of busy lifestyles and increasing traffic. Technologies such as Cisco WebEx are help, as they offer facilities such as real-time desktop sharing with phone conferencing. Patients around the globe can talk to their doctors from the comforts of their living rooms and it feels as if they were together in person.

CMSN’s program offers benefits such as interacting with the patient’s physician, high quality, medically managed weight loss, online access to a registered dietitian through live and online group meetings. It also allows the patient to remain anonymous to certain extent. With the help of Cisco WebEx online meetings, CMSN has developed an innovative health and lifestyle program.

“Research shows that group treatment of obesity is most effective. I believe our Web-based treatment model is a breakthrough in delivering cost-effective, professional care to the average patient,” said Dr. Louis Aronne, a Weill-Cornell Medical Center obesity expert and researcher in New York City. “You don’t have to travel across the country or even leave the comfort of your home to be part of the CMSN program.”

The partnership between CMSN and Cisco eliminates the trips to the hospitals and the associated costs as the CMSN program is accessible to anyone who has a broadband internet connection and a phone line.

Recently, Cisco made clear its intent to acquire privately held Tidal Software, Inc. for about $105 million in cash and retention-based incentives. By acquiring Tidal Software, a creator of intelligent application management and automation solutions, Cisco hopes to advance its data center strategy while enhancing product and service delivery offerings.
