MyMedicalRecords.com to Offer Prepaid Personal Health Record Card

MMRGlobal, Inc., a provider of Personal Health Records (“PHR”), recently introduced a prepaid Personal Health Record card, which will be launched at the 2012 CES Digital Health Summit this week.

As a provider of secure and easy-to-use online PHRs and electronic safe deposit box storage solutions via its wholly-owned operating subsidiary MyMedicalRecords, Inc., MMRGlobal will now start offering the new prepaid PHR card that will be offered at retail stores such as supermarkets and drug stores throughout the United States.

According to MMRGlobal, the prepaid PHR card is redeemable for a Personal Health Record account on the MyMedicalRecords.com platform. The MyMedicalRecords PHR facilitates individuals and families to access their medical records as well as other key documents, such as birth certificates, passports, insurance policies and wills, anytime from anywhere via the Internet.

Built on proprietary, patented technologies, the MyMedicalRecords enables documents, images and voicemail messages to be transmitted and stored in the system using a variety of methods, such as fax, phone, or file upload without relying on any specific electronic medical record platform to populate a user's account.

Officials with MMRGlobal said that the prepaid PHR card will be offered at $79.95 when purchased on a prepaid card. The card is normally sold online for $99.95 per year. The card will now also include an extra month of free service for a family of up to 10 members, including pets.

In addition, every MyMedicalRecords.com account includes a personal “Lifeline” telephone number. This telephone number, at the option of the user, provides free unlimited voice and fax mail services bundled in a user's account.

According to MMRGlobal, the Lifeline is designed to be used by all of one's doctors and healthcare providers to fax in medical records. These can be automatically viewed in the user's password-protected online account with a copy automatically sent to the subscriber's personal e-mail account at their option.

In addition, the Lifeline number can also be used for outbound faxing at no additional charge and for recording as well as storing confidential voice messages. Additionally, users can also upload as well as download documents and medical images directly from their computer.

Robert H. Lorsch, chairman and CEO for MMRGlobal, said in a statement, “In 1995, I co-founded SmarTalk, one of the largest providers of prepaid calling cards in the world. I also invented and patented swipe activation at retail. I led a sales team that sold hundreds of millions of prepaid calling cards through retailers worldwide.”

Lorsch added, “MMRGlobal will draw on that experience to offer our MyMedicalRecords Prepaid Personal Health Record card… At a time when government mandates are requiring that Americans have access to an online PHR in less than two years, I cannot think of a better time to launch a prepaid Personal Health Record card at retail.”

In recent news as reported by HealthTechZone, MMRGlobal signed a settlement and patent license agreement with Surgery Center Management LLC, a consulting firm specializing in the development and management of freestanding ambulatory surgery.
