LiveHealth Online App to Combat Cold and Flu Season with Live Doctor Sessions 24/7

With the start of cold and flu season less than a month away, parents will soon have to deal with runny noses, fevers, sore throats and a multitude of other symptoms. Luckily for them and their children, LiveHealth Online has launched a new application that enables mothers to easily and privately connect with a physician of their choice from among 44 states when their own doctor can't be reached.

The service can be accessed at any time and allows app users to establish a two-way, face-to-face video chat with a doctor who can both diagnose and treat them, along with their family members for non-emergency conditions such as the flu, cold, strep throat and ear infections. LiveHealth Online doctors in most states can also send prescriptions directly to the pharmacy used by the app user.

Mia Finkelston, a primary care doctor who is participating in LiveHealth Online, said the app provides convenience and reassurance for mothers during a time when children are most likely to get sick.

“LiveHealth Online is an essential tool for moms this cold and flu season because it’s like having a doctor by your side 24/7," Finkelston said in a statement. “In minutes, moms can access a doctor and feel good knowing they can help get their child on the road to recovery quickly and avoid missing school or extracurricular activities.”

LiveHealth Online, which is a covered benefit of Empire BlueCross BlueShield EPO and PPO benefit plans, is the only telehealth service that lets consumers pick the doctor that they want to see and partake in video chat visits. It is cost-effective alternative to urgent care and retail clinics and LiveHealth Online visits are covered at the same or lower out-of-pocket costs than a typical office visit for PPO and EPO members of Empire BlueCross BlueShield.

The LiveHealth Online app is available for download from iTunes, the App Store or Google Play store.
