PHP Selects Perceptive Software to Streamline Medical Claims Processing

Perceptive Software, a software firm specializing in process and content management, has been selected by Preferred Health Professionals to provide enterprise content management (ECM) and business intelligence technology to process medical claims more efficiently.

“By reducing the time and effort devoted to paper handling, Preferred Health Professionals can spend more time providing superior, proactive services to providers, patients and partners,” Charles Kaplan, vice president of Marketing for Perceptive Capture, said in a statement. Perceptive Capture is the new name of the company’s Brainware product.

The Perceptive Capture technology will give PHP (not to be confused with the programming language) a competitive advantage in processing claims over organizations still using paper forms to track and approve claims. It also allows providers to achieve much greater compliance as well as letting them process claims faster, which in turn allows them to be more productive.

“Our agenda includes an ambitious implementation schedule and we expect to see a dramatic increase in productivity as a result of our partnership with Perceptive Software,” Mark Van Nuland, president and COO of Preferred Health Professionals added.

Perceptive revealed its name change from Brainware to Perceptive Capture for its intelligent data capture platform earlier back in October.  At that time, Brian Anderson, CTO at Perspective commented, “This change reflects the integration of Brainware’s best-in-class content classification and data extraction technologies with Perceptive Software’s business process management (BPM) and enterprise content management (ECM) platform. We’re delivering on our vision of a comprehensive solution for automation of all key business operations, regardless of document type, volume or complexity. Brainware complements Perceptive’s existing capture architecture that already provides low and high-volume, centralized and distributed capture capabilities focused on capturing actionable data at the edge of any business process.”

The software has wider applications than healthcare, eliminating paperwork in a variety of areas including accounts payable, accounts receivable, mail, order processing, processing explanations of benefits and other areas.
