Priority Emergency Room Using CMR as its Information System Technology Solution

CMR, a respected Emergency Department Information System (EDIS), was selected by Priority Emergency Room as its information technology system. The Priority Emergency Room is a freestanding ER located in Katy, Texas, and is known to push the envelope when it comes to leveraging innovative healthcare technologies.

CMR has been designed to let ED professionals instantly access medical information and efficiently document clinical activities, and was developed by Cris Mandry, MD, founding program director of the Louisiana State University Emergency Medicine Residency in 1992.

The CMR information system specifically integrates with both administrative and clinical systems in hospitals, and since it is Web-based, it uses quite a convenient solution.

The CMR EDIS Version 3.3 is 2011/2012 is compliant and certified as an EHR Module by the Drummond Group Inc., and supports Stage 1 meaningful use measures, which makes qualified providers and hospitals to qualify for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (AARA).

The Priority Emergency Room zeroing in on CMR is a sensible move, as the last few years have seen an influx of freestanding ER facilities across the country. These ER facilities need to use the same information technology solutions employed in big hospital affiliated emergency departments and thus require immediate access to electronic medical records, lab results, allergy alerts and other critical information.

"Wanting to leverage innovative healthcare technology to provide a quick and efficient working environment, we looked for a system that was user-friendly and intuitive to the unique needs found in an emergency room setting," said Winnie King, MD and a co-owner of Priority Emergency Room. "In addition to meeting our system functionality requirements, the CMR support team has been by our side from day one, even staying overnight to ensure the implementation process went smoothly."

"Working with Dr. King and the other ER physicians at Priority has been a great pleasure," said Robert Tassin, MD, physician support director of CMR. "We are delighted to provide our product and services to assist them in offering the highest quality of care to those with urgent and critical medical needs."
