More Community Hospitals Implementing Siemens' Soarian Suite

A two-year global initiative launched by Siemens to strengthen the healthcare sector appears to be gathering momentum with many healthcare providers across the country turning to Siemens and Soarian to help them connect people to care for their communities.

Soarian, the next generation healthcare information system solution from Siemens, provides workflow technology to help streamline the patient care process across the enterprise and is helping hospitals find greater health IT value, according to company officials.

Among the latest to implement the Soarian suite of clinical and financial applications are the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC), Honolulu, T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, Ky. and two Missouri hospitals - Southeast Hospital, Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Missouri Delta Medical Center based in Sikeston, Mo.

HHSC expects to implement the full Soarian enterprise suite in the island communities. By enabling the dynamic and seamless exchange of patient information, it hopes to improve the health of individuals and promote the economic health of the island communities throughout the state of Hawaii.

Having successfully installed many Siemens components previously, T.J. Samson Community Hospital opted for the full suite of the Soarian system to provide a holistic approach to care and manage its health IT efficiently. The move is expected to pave the way for more physicians to commence working in a new healthcare pavilion scheduled to open in January 2013.

In an effort to deliver a coordinated electronic health record solution to area providers., the two Missouri hospitals recently purchased a Soarian enterprise suite. They chose Siemens' Soarian over four others as they considered it capable of supporting the medical centers' goal of providing “competent, compassionate and cost efficient care.”

In other news, Siemens Healthcare recently announced that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently cleared the features associated with the new Biograph mCT positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET CT) scanner.
