Amerinet, Atigeo Optimize Healthcare Solutions Based on ICD 10 Medical Coding Standard

Amerinet Inc., a healthcare solutions provider, and Atigeo have inked a new contract agreement to provide customized healthcare solutions encompassing clinical decision-making, research and development besides improved patient care cost effectively.

This solution is expected to reduce overall healthcare costs for Amerinet’s 54,000-plus provider member network, said officials at Atigeo, a compassionate technology company delivering revolutionary semantic software.

In a release Dale Wright, Amerinet’s senior vice president of Contracting, said, “Amerinet, in its continued delivery of innovation for healthcare providers, is pleased to announce our partnership with Atigeo.”

“As our first joint solution to market, we will make Atigeo’s xPatterns solutions available to help our members reduce costs and improve productivity for ICD-10 code compliance. Given the complexity across all data, systems, and applications in our industry we have found the xPatterns semantic software platform to be a game-changing solution,” Wright added.

It was revealed that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has mandated the transition from the medical coding standard ICD-9 (International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision) to ICD-10 by October 2013.

This stipulates several changes in all businesses and systems across the healthcare industry. It is imperative that all providers covered by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) will have to make the transition. The compliance process involves updating IT systems, training personnel, and developing documentation, which is a huge workload for administrators and medical personnel, said officials.

Atigeo sources explained that its xPatterns platform enables a breakthrough ICD-10 coding solution that streamlines the compliance process optimally. Using xPatterns, ICD coders link to a portion or entire patient record into the system. Also, xPatterns can surface ICD-9 references or identify past under-coding examples.

xPatterns also helps researchers to submit large queries and get rapid and precise results. It is capable of deciphering patterns, drawing inferences, and surfaces actionable knowledge from vast disparate medical data without depending much on manual efforts.

In related company news, the 2011 Amerinet Member Conference took place in May 2011 in Florida. It highlighted the solutions that help members and suppliers deal with the ongoing complexities of healthcare reform and the uncertainty presented by the current economic climate.
