EtherMind is the latest addition in the trend of setting up car infotainment units capable of supporting features such as large displays and enhanced connectivity in light of the fact that an increasing number of people are spending more time in their cars. The solution has been designed to provide the added convenience of monitoring personal health by employing the car headset unit to wirelessly connect to a wide range of consumer medical devices which use Bluetooth technology such as heart rate monitors, thermometers, glucose meters and pulse oximeters. The company’s Bluetooth Low Energy profile offers consumers a simple and powerful way to monitor their health in a car.
EtherMind has low power consumption, enhanced range, and is capable of running for years on a coin cell battery. Bluetooth Low Energy provides new markets such as health and wellness devices, sports and fitness equipment, and watches with new opportunities and also enables existing Bluetooth-enabled products such as the automotive headset to connect easily with such devices. Currently, the market is gearing up for Bluetooth 4.0 dual-mode technology based smartphones in the second half of 2011. In such a market, MindTree's offering can help automakers drive personal area connectivity based in-car innovation and consumer experience on the "fourth screen" as well.
