General Dynamics Information Technology, the information technology (IT) unit of General Dynamics, announced its new partnership with TIBCO Software, a business integration and process management software company.
The strategic alliance allows TIBCO to incorporate General Dynamics' ViPS' NAV-10 technology into selected TIBCO Foresight products, company officials said.
The partnership will provide customers with their HIPAA 5010 and International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision (ICD-10) testing and conversion strategy.
The NAV-10 Code Translation Suite, a vital part of General Dynamics' ICD-10 Readiness Solutions software, offers enterprise-wide migration solutions, including analysis and determination tools.
The software offers a clear understanding of the impacts and costs for the transition to ICD-10. The main benefit to healthcare businesses is that they can save time and money.
“By partnering with TIBCO, General Dynamics will provide customers with a superior capability to help them meet the new ICD-10 requirement cost effectively and on schedule,” said Art Lehrer, vice president and general manager of General Dynamics Information Technology's Health IT Solutions sector, in a statement.
Lehrer added that the NAV-10 system is a quality-driven solution that tailors to a customer's business model to help them make informed decisions based on their own data.
The U.S. healthcare industry is facing several roadblocks for preparing for the mandated ICD-10 implementation on Oct. 13, 2013.
There will be significant changes to the information systems and processes during the transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10. During this ICD-10 transition, providers need to ensure compensation for services rendered and payers need to adjust their adjudicated systems and contracts with providers.

Back in November, General Dynamics Information Technology announced it has been rewarded a missile defense agency contract, HealthTechZone reported. The company is one of five awardees selected by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) to provide systems engineering and testing services under the Missile Defense Agency Engineering and Support Services (MiDAESS) contract, according to company officials.
