Cardiac Science Corporation, world leader in Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and diagnostic cardiac monitoring devices connecting to Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and hospital information systems, has announced that its certification with Allscripts Professional EHR has been accomplished.
Cardiac Science, who had earlier completed certification for large physician practices with the Allscripts Enterprise EHR, extends its HeartCentrix cardiology device connectivity solution for its resting ECG, stress and Holter monitoring products to hold up Allscripts Professional EHR for small and mid-sized physician groups as well with its latest certification accomplishment.
In a press release, Dave Marver, Cardiac Science president and CEO, said, “Our connectivity solution with Allscripts Professional EHR reaffirms our commitment to providing seamless connectivity with the industry's leading EHR solutions.”
The HeartCentrix connectivity solution would endow physicians with immediate access to a patient’s test results, which enables them to electronically view or edit the patient information in addition to allowing easy data retrieval from the Electronic Health Record (EHR) as and when desired. A unified view of the patient’s medical data would be provided by the association between Cardiac Science's equipment and the Allscripts EHRs, which would also assist physicians in diagnostic cardiology workflow reorganization and data transcription errors elimination.
In a press release, David Qu, Allscripts vice president of Solutions Management, said, “Allscripts continues to lead the industry in creating open, connected systems of health by using our open architecture platform to enable third party applications and medical devices to connect to multiple Allscripts solutions. Sharing of cardiology data with a variety of Allscripts software platforms in diverse clinical settings allows our physicians to make faster, more informed decisions that ultimately result in safer patient care and better health outcomes.”
Cardiac Science’s open architecture platform facilitates the connection to Allscripts Professional as well as Enterprise EHR solutions. Allscripts EHRs have been designed in such a way as to connect quickly and easily to the certified device vendors, as a means to accomplish Allscripts continuing obligation to open – not closed – systems.
Cardiac Science, headquartered in Bothell, Washington, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Opto Circuits (India) Ltd. Cardiac Science focuses on developing and marketing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic cardiology devices and systems.
