GE Healthcare, which provides transformational medical technologies and services, announced it is donating its Web-based electronic medical record or “EMR” technology platform to University of Texas Program for educational use.
Through this donation, GE is demonstrating its commitment to the primary care physician market and to nationally recognized Workforce Development Programs. The main aim of this program is to teach those who will work in this emerging field for years to come.

GE’s Centricity Advance is geared to the smaller, primary care physician practice. It is a proven, fully integrated EMR, Practice Management and Patient Portal solution. Centricity Advance is designed specifically to make healthcare IT functionality affordable. It is minimally disruptive during implementation and easy to use.
Delivered in a Web-based, Software-as-a-Service or “SaaS” model, Centricity Advance is a modern, efficient deployment method. It costs less than a traditional client-server software deployment. It can be maintained, upgraded and supported with virtually no involvement from the onsite staff.
In July GE Healthcare released the Meaningful Use “MU”-ready software Centricity Enterprise 6.9, the integrated cross-continuum clinical, financial and administrative software solution for hospitals, HealthTechZone reported. GE has broadened the Meaningful Use capability with this new product release, according to company officials.

Through its healthcare technologies GE Healthcare services are shaping a new age of patient care. GE Healthcare is one of six vendors that were chosen to donate software to the program.
