Amedisys Inc. Innovating Healthcare and Technology for Patients around the Country

A home and hospice healthcare provider out of Louisiana, Amedisys Inc. announced Monday that it is now the home health and hospice care provider for United Healthcare across the Southeast. Including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina and Tennessee, the provider will be responsible for providing 4.9 million members of United Healthcare’s commercial and Medicare Advantage plans with service.

“We are excited about the momentum our managed care strategy gained in the second half of 2011 and in the New Year,” said William F. Borne, chairman and chief executive officer for Amedisys. “In order for us to continue leading the healthcare at home industry, it's important we are able to become a provider-of-choice for the nation's leading managed care plans. Securing an agreement to care for United Healthcare patients across the southeast provides great momentum for the organization in these markets.”

In 2011, Amedisys expanded and now has agreements with 240 managed care providers across the country and is focused on continually adding to its network. The company's state-of-the-art care programs and technology enables it to deliver care based on the latest and greatest best practices.

Amedisys is a recognized innovator; being one of the first in the industry to gives clinicians point-of-care laptop technology for patients, and referring physicians with an Internet portal that enables real-time coordination of patient care seamlessly.

This most recent partnership comes on the heels of an agreement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia that came earlier this month. As Amedisys continues to expand its partnerships, it is clear that its innovative point-of-care laptop technology, and its technology assisted quality care are something that the healthcare industry is leaning towards using.

By offering the latest in medical monitoring technology and staying relevant by leveraging the latest health trends, it is a company that is clearly ahead of the curve in the the latest industry patterns, and is an innovator in the field of managing and tracking a patient’s care digitally.
