Healthcare Industry Can Use AT&T's New Offer to Make Tablet Messaging Safer

The healthcare industry is making the most of mobile devices like tablets to communicate with their patients and help them with real time advice and messaging. However, one of the concerns of the healthcare industry is the protection and privacy of patient information. AT&T recently announced that it would be releasing two specially designed solutions to help healthcare providers protect and manage patient information while messaging and using tablets.

In a release, Dr. Joseph C. Kvedar, Founder and Director of the Center for Connected Health, Partners HealthCare, said, "Text messaging is proving to be an effective way to engage patients in their care, improve patient satisfaction, and even improve clinical outcomes. Messaging programs have great potential for providing low-cost, accessible, educational messaging to patients, and we look forward to additional applications of these powerful tools for reaching diverse and large patient populations."

The first offer will be AT&T Managed Tablets, which is a secure, end-to-end management solution bundling software and services that works on any tablet. Hospitals that make use of the

AT&T Managed Tablets will be able to gain access to resources, records and information that are stored in the facility's information infrastructure. This will enable them to provide their patients with real time information as and when is required.

The second offer is the AT&T Global Smart Messaging Suite for Healthcare, which is powered by Soprano. This mobile messaging platform offers encrypted outbound messages which allow patients to receive information in a highly secure and safe manner. Randall Porter, Assistant Vice President, AT&T ForHealth, said, "AT&T is overcoming barriers in mobile healthcare. Highly-secure mobile solutions make it simple for providers and patients alike to adopt new mHealth technologies."
