Healthcare Benefits Company Aetna Announces Well-Being Offerings to Best Buy Customers

Aetna, a diversified health care benefits company, announced that it is offering four of its well-being offerings direct to shoppers at Best Buy this New Year.

The “My Resources for Living Well” product line includes on-line modules focused on fitness, weight management, smoking cessation and stress management.

Best Buy will sell these products within the Best Buy “health technology” department in three suburban Chicago stores. This new 1,200-square-foot department serves as a pilot for Best Buy.

The food department will become hot zone for the latest technologies and tools to support fitness, sleep and nutritional goals, plus the new innovations in beauty technology for skin, face and hair.

“Best Buy seemed a natural choice for trying out some of our well-being products with the general public,” said Louise Murphy, who heads Aetna's behavioral health and employee assistance programs, in a statement. “These online programs take the things you 'should do' and turn them into things you will do.”

“If you're in Best Buy purchasing a pedometer or blood pressure cuff, you might also be interested in a program to help you achieve the health goals associated with that equipment. While these products have been available to many of our Aetna members through our employee assistance and WorkLife programs, consumers can now access these wellness resources,” Murphy added.

Aetna has developed hanging cards for retail display that describe the programs and sells for $19.99. Aetna’s Fitness Program is a 90-day walking program to help people eliminate psychological barriers. A sophisticated software program is part of the offering that tracks an individual's experience and provides online coaching to deal with challenging situations.

Recently, Aetna announced that J.D. Power and Associates, a global marketing information services company, recognized Aetna for providing “An Outstanding Customer Service Experience” through its concierge customer service model. This is the third year in a row that Aetna has been recognized by J.D. Power and Associates.
