Makovsky Expands Health Practice with New Members

Two new members have been added to Makovsky + Company’s Health Practice. The two new additions include Beth Conner and Eliza Merves. While Conner has joined as assistant vice president, Merves is the new account executive. Apart from securing 100 percent client retention in 2011, the company has seen the addition of new clients.

Apart from the unique insight in pharmaceuticals, both, Conner and Merves bring advocacy relations to the firm. Reporters, health professionals, patients, financial analysts and policy makers will be well reached using the social media skills of the two.

In a release, Gil Bashe, EVP and Health Practice director at Makovsky + Co., said, "Our mission to serve clients in extraordinary ways has multiple benefits -- to our firm and current and future colleagues. We are in the client-service business, and new business opportunities are an outgrowth of firm reputation, talent and creative output."

According to Bashe, firm-wide stability is possible by paying attention to current clients. A desire for new clients to enjoy the proven benefits demonstrated by others' successes also helps the company establish firm-wide stability.

Consumer and patient-focused initiatives for pharmaceutical clients were previously managed by Beth Conner at Edelman Public Relations Health in Chicago and New York City. These initiatives were focused on Alzheimer's disease, cancer and women's health categories. Conner has guided client media strategy and developed press materials during her six year stint at that agency.

Beth Conner, AVP at Makovsky Health, said, "Having come to Makovsky from a large agency, I wanted to continue my career at a well-regarded mid-sized firm known for working with leadership clients and unique, complex consumer and professional health assignments. I sought out and found a firm recognized for outstanding talent committed to mentoring staff and demonstrating front-line commitment to clients."

Cholesterol awareness is supported by Eliza Merves, who works currently on a Makovsky Health account. She helped organize and implement large-scale consumer campaigns during her tenure at Ogilvy Public Relations.
