MidMichigan Health Joins Hands with Concerro to Implement Its Retiree Return-to-Work Program

Concerro, Inc., developer of SaaS-based workforce management and emergency response systems, has entered into a partnership with MidMichigan Health, non-profit health system. Under the terms of the agreement, MidMichigan Health will leverage Concerro's web-based workforce management system to rope in retirees to help support and meet the health systems resource needs.

In a release, Lynn Bruchhof, vice president of human resources for MidMichigan Health said that "Older workers are valuable for their experience and skills across many levels of the organization. Through the MyTime Gold program, we are able to continue our investment in the workforce while providing the work-life balance retirees need. Concerro's web-based ShiftSelect system allows many of our retirees to view and request the shifts they are qualified to work online, regardless of nursing unit or hospital. The technology keeps staff engaged while offering the flexible schedules and roles needed to effectively retain older nurses in the workforce."

The aging workforce at MidMichigan Health was a cause of serious concern to the management. The system was looking at a loss of more than 500 tenured, skilled and experienced employees in the next three years. To over-come the impending shortage in its workforce, MidMichigan Health went ahead with the implementation of "MyTime Gold," a return-to-work program. The MyTime Gold program essentially was created to attract and rope in retirees to help address specific situational requirements within the system. To ensure reliable and effective implementation of the program, MidMichigan Health decided to leverage Concerro's web-based workforce management system.

Shelli Wood, vice president of nursing at MidMichigan Medical Center--Midland said that "MidMichigan Health is committed to supporting the Association of Nurse Executive's (AONE) Guiding Principles for the Aging Workforce to help provide flexible work schedules and alternative roles for older nurses interested in returning to work. Concerro's ShiftSelect system provides visibility into enterprise-wide open shift needs and flexible work options, and has been a cornerstone of our MyTime Gold program throughout the health system."

MyTime Gold takes in retirees who have completed a minimum of six months of active retirement. MidMichigan Health has created several innovative programs such as the "MyTime Gold" initiative and wellness and learning programs to both retain and attract the more experienced employees.

Graham Barnes, CEO of Concerro, said that "We commend MidMichigan Health for investing in programs and technology that support a retired, yet committed workforce. We're proud to support their approach to attracting retirees back to the workforce by increasing awareness of the available opportunities and providing flexible scheduling options."
