Royal Philips Electronics Unveils Graphical Dashboard to Expand its eICU Telehealth Services

Royal Philips Electronics, a diversified well-being and health company, has launched its advanced IntelliSpace eCareManager 3.9 health care platform that is powered by orb.

Philips unveiled its latest offering at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2013 exhibition and conference. Philips included its latest offering, orb, in its eICU program, which is an advanced graphical dashboard that is certified by over 100 clinical rules to efficiently analyze, visualize, and process clinical data in real time. At the same time, it has the ability to tell precisely about what is happening with a particular patient and in a more vivid, “visually digestible form.”

Philips eICU users have deep insight into more than 7000 ICU beds, with an average of 150 patients to be monitored in a single Tele-ICU simultaneously. There are larger sites that can care for more than 400 patients on a given day. However, there is a demand for a new form of population-based representation to present critical data to support advanced and proactive patient interaction. In this scenario, Orb has the ability to seamlessly integrate practical clinical data with advanced visual technology that helps the clinicians and healthcare providers to prioritize the needs of the patients and further streamline the in-hospital care.

The latest graphical dashboard presented by Philips features different circles that efficiently represent individual patients and their specific health status. By having a look into these circles, the healthcare providers and clinicians can instantly determine the population-level or important patient information just at a glance.

This includes which ICU patients are in need of immediate care or which patients are ready for hospital discharge. The graphical dashboard helps the clinicians to prioritize the patient information that was earlier unavailable due to bulk amount of clinical data that was created for a single patient. Orb provides the most critical information on patients whether they are being provided healthcare at the bedside, from a nurse’s station, or miles away from a centralized, remote Telehealth care team.

As reported by Philips, the customer benefits and integral functions offered by IntelliSpace eCareManager health care platforms, powered by Orb are:

·         Provides efficient and proactive management of patients for avoiding complications

·         Optimizes the expertise of existing health care provider staff

·         Enables proportional and effective population management for leveraging scarce resources

·         Helps in visualizing the critical physiologic indicators to take care of overall patient health or progression

·         Includes a single-point of visualization of critical clinical data that is otherwise fragmented across diverse systems
