Napier Healthcare Brings Hospital Information Management System to Bhutan

Napier Healthcare has officially implemented its Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) at its Bhutan hospital, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH).

The deployment was successful, and went live on December 18th, 2012.

Project coordinator for hospital information systems at JDWNRH, Dr. Damber K. Nirola announced the successful installation and use of the system, and expressed happiness in their system choice.

Napier’s CEO Karthik Tirupathi responded, saying, “We are pleased to be associated with JDWNRH and helping them improve the overall quality of healthcare with a better management system.”

JDWNRH is located in the country of Bhutan (also known as the Kingdom of Bhutan) in the Southeast-Asian region, and contains over 350 beds, serving as the multi-specialty, national tertiary referral center for the Bhutan region, as well as its regional referral center hospital.

Tirupathi described the features the hospital will now have access to with Napier Healthcare’s HIMS, saying, “The web-based HIS provides advanced intelligence tools that empower Public Health and National hospitals to make informed decisions in real time to improve the quality of critical healthcare services.”

JDWNRH primarily serves the population of Thimpu Dzongkhag, but also takes on patients and referral cases from neighboring judicial districts in Bhutan.

Napier’s HIMS is able to provide for an operation of this size, making it a fitting choice for JDWNRH.

“Availability of next generation mobility and analytics as a part of the solution enables hospitals to widen the reach of critical health services to a wider population, even remote areas,” noted Tirupathi.

One hope those at JDWNRH have for the Napier Healthcare HIMS is that it will help reduce the waiting time for patients, a common problem at the hospital.

The wealth of features available in Napier’s comprehensive solution will solve this problem and many others by providing a web-based, modular, scalable and tightly-integrated system that has not been seen in the area before.

Napier’s HIMS was built in line with healthcare industry standards such as HL7 messaging, and focuses primarily on supporting and easing the jobs of hospital administration and patients.

The solution also helps in the financial sense by creating a simple way to format, operate and keep the system working within the budget.
