Polycom RealPresence and Microsoft Lync make a great combination. How do I know this? Because healthcare, pharmaceutical, and life science provider Lonza is now using a combination of the two to provide its staff around the world with an end-to-end unified communications and collaboration solution, and it’s working quite well.
The solutions were implemented by Orange Business Services, and provide services to over 11,000 staff members in Lonza’s 90 sites worldwide. Its employees can now communicate through voice, video, instant messaging, or presence, no matter where they are.
Furthermore, Lonza’s added Polycom RealPresence Immersive video suites and RealPresence Room video solutions to its video collaboration collection, providing a personalized video experience in high definition. Users can now select names from their Lync contact lists and connect instantly to the face-to-face collaboration suite on their desktop or in a conference room-based system.
Now, Lonza’s employees are using the Polycom OTX immersive video suites and HDX Room video solutions for any sort of meeting they need, whether it’s for the board or between groups. Human resources can also use the rooms to train and interview employees anywhere without needing to travel. The company is saving in travel costs as well as time and productivity.
“We chose Polycom primarily for their experience and reputation,” sayid Ernst Hutter, Lonza’s head of Global IT Infrastructure, in a statement. “Secondly, the interoperability with other systems; and thirdly because of the strength of its strategic relationship and commitment to integrate with Microsoft Lync. The combination of Microsoft Lync and Polycom video collaboration has significantly changed our way of working in the last two years. We have more and more home users and this has allowed the organization to implement a more flexible working environment, so employees can work more effectively away from the office and securely join video meetings from home or on the move.”
When it comes to helping employees communicate, Polycom RealPresence and Microsoft Lync go together like peanut butter and jelly. Lonza made a smart move by using both of these offerings, allowing its employees to connect more easily and clearly no matter where they are.
