Large Peru Pharmacy Chooses LogFire's Cloud-Based Solution for Shipping

Eckerd Peru, operator of InkaFarma, one of Peru's largest pharmacies, has chosen LogFire’s cloud-based solution to help InkaFarma's new fully automated distribution center improve its abilities to ship and trace products at all points of sale, according to a company press release.

InkaFarma is part of the Interbank Group. The pharmacy will be using Logfire’s extended warehouse management system (WMS).

The press release reports that this solution was decided upon after LogFire successfully implemented the same solution at Interbank's supermarket group, Supermercados.

"We have an ambitious long-term vision and the LogFire cloud-based WMS solution will give us the ability to standardize our logistics operations," said Jorge Abarca, director of IT at InkaFarma.

LogFire's extended WMS works by tracing and tracking features based on expiration date, serial number and batch number, and also provides reverse logistics capabilities to track pharmaceutical inventory returns. The solution will also integrate the warehouse control system and will be tied to the material handling equipment at InkaFarma, providing full warehouse automation.

In the U.S., CVS recently announced that the new distribution center in Vero Beach, Fl., will use automated technology to handle inventory and fulfillment processes for stores in Florida. CVS fills over 1.2 billion prescriptions a year.

InkaFarma will also use LogFire's WMS on mobile tablets throughout the warehouse to improve productivity and communications.

Automated pharmacy systems offer many benefits, including the advantages of improved workflow efficiency, optimal inventory management, but most importantly, a reduction of potential human errors.
