AMC Select App to Help Healthcare Workers Make Switch from Pagers to Smartphones

USA Mobility Wireless, a division of USA Mobility Inc., has recently announced the release of Amcom Mobile Connect Select (AMC Select.)  The new application for smartphones was developed in part with Amcom Software, also a subsidiary of USA Mobility Wireless.

AMC Select is set to change the way doctors and other healthcare employees communicate in a clinical setting by allowing messages sent to pagers on the USA Mobility Wireless network to be received by smartphones as well.  Healthcare workers who only want to use one device for communication can now do so simply by downloading the AMC Select application.

The method in which messages are sent to the smartphones through the application does not have to change, nor do the pager numbers of those receiving them.  This provides an easier transition from the use of pagers to smartphones.  Automated message delivery receipts are included in the service, as is the ability to reply to messages received with a text, a convenience not available through the use of pagers.  Dates and times of all communications on the network are accounted for.  USA Mobility Wireless hosts the service, as well as taking care of maintenance issues and billing.

Medical information transmitted over the network is protected under standards laid out under HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and the HITECH (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act.)

President and CEO of USA Mobility Inc. Vincent D. Kelly said, "The development of AMC Select is a collaborative by-product of our 2011 acquisition of Amcom Software.  For our customers, this unique solution is a seamless way to incorporate the power of smartphones and advanced security practices within their existing communications processes.”
