Consult A Doctor, a provider of cloud-based telemedicine services and platform solutions, today announced that IBM has chosen it as one of only five finalists, from thousands of applicants, to participate in the IBM SmartCamp Kickstart Miami event.
SmartCamp Kickstart is aimed at identifying early stage entrepreneurs who are developing healthcare business solutions that can work with the “IBM Smarter Healthcare” vision and its “broader goal to build a smarter planet,” according to a company press release.
As a finalist, Consult A Doctor’s CEO is required to deliver a presentation that demonstrates how its telemedicine platform and solution contributes to healthcare, as it is rapidly evolving.
Consult A Doctor allows patients to “see” a doctor online or on the phone, saving time and money, according to the company, which sees itself as offering care and cost reductions to payers, providers, employers and the people who are treated.
Other telemedicine solutions allow patients to consult therapists the same way, and an innovative new program at prisons around the country is also allowing inmates to talk to counselors over the phone and video conferencing.
There are big bucks to be saved. With just the prison program alone, experts estimate savings of $30,000 to $40,000 monthly per state, using the V2VIP service, a hosted VoIP platform, videophones and iV2VIP video softphone.
At SmartCamp Kickstart Miami, Consult A Doctor will demonstrate TeleCare 3.0, the company’s cloud-based telemedicine platform that runs Consult A Doctor 24/7, a telemedicine service that offers 24/7 access to board-certified physicians in all 50 states via phone, secure email, video and app, according to the company.
Worried about patient data security and confidentiality? Don’t be. The platform is HIPAA-compliant and allows the Consult A Doctor 24/7 service to be configured to meet the needs of employer groups, health plans, hospitals, health systems and providers.
Consult A Doctor 24/7 says it addresses the core of the “IBM Smarter Healthcare” vision “by enabling collaborative care coordination, patient-centered care, chronic disease management and by providing faster, high quality healthcare that emphasizes prevention and wellness.”
