MMR Global and VIDA Team up to Offer Personal Health Record Cards to Seniors and Their Families

MMRGlobal, Inc., a provider of personal health records (PHRs), MyEsafeDepositBox storage solutions and electronic document management and imaging systems for healthcare professionals, today announced that it has agreed to sell its patented personal health record products and services to more than 50,000 patients of VIDA Senior Resource, Assisted Transition and Senior Helpers to help them securely set up and track a personal health record service from clients' homes.

VIDA, based in Boise, Idaho, offers senior home care services nationwide through a network of certified owned and operated agencies, according to an MMR press release. MMR and VIDA will begin work together on nationwide sales and training next week.

MMR said in its press release that VIDA was moved to join forces with the company after it witnessed the introduction of MMR’s prepaid personal health record card at the Consumer Electronics Show in January. The press release reports that VIDA saw how using the cards as an activation tool would enable them to keep track of clients’ health at their homes. The service will be provided to more than 35,000 patients in their homes, according to the press release.

The kinds of information that could be in PHRs include: emergency contacts; names; addresses; dates of last physical; dates and results of tests and screenings; major illnesses and surgeries, with dates; a list of medicines; allergies; chronic diseases, and any history of illnesses in your family.

"We are most excited about the opportunity with VIDA because, for the first time, we will see a PHR activated and maintained as part of the regular job description of the Senior Helper at no additional cost,” said Bob Lorsch, chairman and CEO of MMRGlobal. He added that the company will provide a fax machine in the subscriber’s home to make sure that every VIDA patient can use the PHR as often as necessary.

MMR announced in February that, due to overwhelming interest in its prepaid PHR cards, it predicted it would distribute 50,000 cards this year.

VIDA announced that the company will also offer the PHR card services to 10,000 senior resource clients and about the same number of assisted transition clients. The MyMedicalRecords Personal Health Record helps not just those confined to home but the entire family track their health, maintain their medical records, and manage all their important life documents as easy as one-two-three from any Internet-connected device. It’s also a very safe way to store and secure important health documents.

VIDA is a world-class leader in providing in-home, non-medical healthcare home workers as well as assisting seniors transfer from in-home to assisted living facilities. It is estimated that more than one million Americans currently live in assisted living facilities, and that number is anticipated to get larger as 77 million baby boomers move into retirement. Moreover, there are an estimated 6.5 million seniors who currently require assistance with activities of daily living and the U.S. Census Bureau reports that number is expected to double by 2020, which is indicative of why home care and the home healthcare industry is expected to grow by more than 40 percent in the next five years and with it the need for technology tools like personal health records to better coordinate care.
