Many people fear the dentist. But new techniques make it easier and less painful, and Dentist elk grove Ltd. now offers a customer care report on sedation dentistry and implant dentistry, among other new ways dentists are going about their business.
Sedation dentistry is used for everything from pulling teeth to cosmetic dentistry. Implants are an artificial device a periodontist places into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge in place. Dental implants are usually used on people who otherwise are healthy but have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.
“Customer care is vital for us in our business so we thought that it was high time that we released a report on the subject,” said Thomas Bussy, one of the directors at the clinic. “We know that many people feel nervous when they are visiting the dentist so this report was designed to show people that we have the highest standard of customer care so they can put their minds at rest. In addition to covering customer care, we also cover our procedures for sedation dentistry and implant dentistry in our report as we find that people are always asking us about these types of procedures.”
According to the practice, many dentists have been downloading the report and commenting on it on forums in the dentistry sector.
A recent survey in Canada found that almost 10 percent of patients are afraid to go to the dentist , with “another 5.5 percent having a high level of fear,” according to pubmed.gov. Slightly less than 50 percent of the people surveyed said they had missed at least one dental appointment out of anxiety.
Overall, 12.4 percent of those studied were interested in sedation dentistry, but of those with real fear, 31 percent were. The demand for sedation increased with the level of the procedure, with 7.2 percent percent wanting it for cleaning, 18 percent for fillings or crowns, 54.7 percent for endodontics, 68.2 percent for periodontal surgery, and 46.5 percent for extraction, according to the survey.
Another U.S. Institutes of Health study found that, with proper training, dentists who performed implants had a 90 percent success rate.
