CSC Awarded Contract by Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene

CSC, a global provider of technology-enabled business solutions and services, won a $297 million contract to replace Maryland’s Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) and provide fiscal agent services to selected DHMH programs.

The contract, awarded by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (MD DHMH), has a five-year base period with three two-year options.

“This contract award is a testament to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s confidence in Team CSC to provide a modern and agile Medicaid Management Information System to continue addressing federal and state healthcare reform requirements,” James W. Sheaffer, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector (NPS) line of business, said in a statement.

The company looks forward to supporting Maryland’s goal to be the healthiest state in the nation by implementing health information technology that reduces costs while improving quality and streamlining care for all Marylanders, according to Shaeffer.

Officials with CSC said that as part of the contract, the company will implement a new enterprise MMIS solution for healthcare administration supporting MD DHMH. For this solution, the company has partnered with CNSI of Gaithersburg, MD.

Company officials said that CSC will also serve as the fiscal agent for the MD DHMH, providing operational support to manage provider and recipient call centers, provider enrollment, prior authorization reviews, claims processing and other administrative activities.

“We commend the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene on its decision to work with CSC as it continues to make strides in updating technology that not only helps the department meet federal healthcare reform requirements, but also makes it easier for physicians to receive payment for the services they provide Medicaid recipients,” said Gene Ransom, CEO of the Maryland State Medical Society, MedChi.

“CSC is a strong supporter of MedChi and we look forward to strengthening our relationship as we work together to support Maryland citizens,” said Ransom.

CSC announced it received a 2012 Partner Impact Award in January, as the SAP Services Partner of the Year - Mobility Innovation, North America.
