Wireless Technology (WTEC), a provider of wireless communication systems, products and services, has announced that it has developed a wireless solution for institutional and first-response professionals in medical or healthcare organizations that will allow them to respond immediately with secure access in life-threatening circumstances, according to a company press release.
WTEC, which is a Central Florida Motorola Platinum Channel Partner, said that it has now begun deploying full-product packages for the healthcare sector that are targeted at patient privacy and security, critical in these days of sensitive information being routed electronically from healthcare organization to organization.
The press release notes that the HIPAA Privacy Rule, protecting patient data from access by unauthorized users, has mandated that wireless communication systems be secure, whether the information is “transmitted in verbal, written or electronic media, remains secure from third parties who may come in contact with this information.”
WTEC says in the press release that its technology Motorola products have been packaged to ensure both security and productivity in healthcare or medical environments where HIPAA must be upheld, and that its line of two-way radio products and digital systems allow healthcare staff “to communicate effectively without the risk of compromising response or security.”
According to a story on healthtechzone.com, patient data security breaches are occurring almost weekly now and costing the U.S. over $6 billion annually. Just to name two, the files of 4 million patients in Northern California and about the same number in New York City were compromised recently by careless employees.
“Our wireless products and packages are designed to help healthcare professionals plan and implement the most efficient and cost-effective mobile solution—in or outside their facilities,” said Brian Tomooka, sales and marketing manager for Wireless Technology. “Healthcare is a very demanding industry and we are proud to offer wireless systems that address their need for timely and accurate communication. From medical directors to physical therapists, integrated Motorola packages serve the wireless needs of medical centers and home care providers nationwide, regardless of hospital budgets or specific needs.”
