Honeywell Enhances Telehealth Technology with New Genesis Touch Personal Health Device

Honeywell HomMed has announced the latest addition to its Genesis product line with the introduction of the Genesis Touch, which has been designed as a personal health device that enables patients leveraging telehealth technology to improve their healthcare management.

In a release, Terry Duesterhoeft, president of Honeywell HomMed, said, "The Genesis Touch represents the next step in the progression of remote patient care. Blending the latest in widely-accepted consumer technology with all the traditional telehealth benefits that healthcare providers, patients and their families have come to expect from the Genesis family of products allows Honeywell HomMed to continue redefining how – and where – remote patient monitoring occurs."

The Genesis Touch is a user-friendly Android-based tablet which provides patients with a multitude of information and flexible functionalities while optimizing communication between healthcare providers and patients. Additionally, Genesis Touch compiles important signs from patients which it then transmits to the LifeStream Management Suite of Honeywell. This makes it easy for healthcare providers to track and monitor patient data.

Terry Duesterhoeft, said, "The Genesis Touch enables patients to leverage existing technology tools to improve their healthcare management. The touchscreen platform is both efficient and familiar, while the integrated video adds a ‘personal touch' to patient interactions with their healthcare providers. And the anywhere-communication aspect addresses the need to have increased mobility in data management, a key offering in today's healthcare marketplace."

Highlighting features of the Genesis Touch include the Fuze Meeting visual collaboration and conferencing application which supports face-to-face interaction between healthcare providers and patients. The solution leverages Verizon's reliable 3G network along with integrated Wi-Fi to provide patients with enhanced mobility which makes it easy for them to manage their health better from any location.

Additionally, the FDA approved Genesis Touch ensures enhanced stability and security for protecting patient data based on HIPAA regulations while its intuitive interface offers protection from virus threats. Also because the solution features an open-development platform, third-party developers can include a wide range of applications, devices, and services into the Genesis Touch.

Tim Wagner, vice president and general manager of B2B Sales for Samsung Mobile, said, "Our collaboration with Honeywell HomMed addresses the ever-increasing consumer demand for more efficient mobile healthcare solutions. We believe the premium hardware of the Android-powered Galaxy Tab addresses previous challenges with mobile technology adoption and positively impacts the ability to treat patients. The ability of our device to embody an FDA-cleared healthcare solution speaks to its efficiency, reliability, and versatility."

Designed to function along with the LifeStream Management Suite, the Genesis Touch offers healthcare providers with easy access to a consolidated management dashboard making it easy for them monitor and triage patients from a single cloud-based platform.
