Rubbermaid Incorporates Vidyo's Telehealth Solution into Offering

Rubbermaid Telemedicine has incorporated Vidyo's unique telehealth solution into its telemedicine carts.

With the ability to be easily customized for individual enterprise and vertical market video conferencing needs, the Vidyo communication and collaboration platform is software-based and highly flexible. Dynamically optimizing the video for each endpoint leveraging H.264 Scalable Video Coding (SVC)-based compression technology and Vidyo’s IP, the patented VidyoRouter architecture introduces Adaptive Video Layering. Offering unprecedented error resiliency, low latency rate matching, Adaptive Video Layering eliminates the MCU, according to company officials.

“Since Vidyo can be accessed over the Internet, 4G and LTE networks, it enables more practitioners, no matter where they're located, to be available for remote consultations; this is a huge benefit to patients and a boon to the healthcare industry,” said Dr. Amnon Gavish, Vidyo's senior vice president, Vertical Solutions. "This is just the beginning of an exciting partnership with Rubbermaid. Customers can look forward to future innovative and economical Vidyo-Rubbermaid Telemedicine integrated products that will expand the reach of video communications.”

Rubbermaid Medical Solutions began its production of medication style carts in 2003 and since then the company has become the premier provider of medication and record-keeping carts and wall-mounted workstations for healthcare facilities. The company recently announced the Rubbermaid Telemedicine Cart, which combines Web, video conferencing and interactive whiteboard technology all in one. This mobile point-of-care platform is mobile and can be used in every area of a hospital or clinic.

Recently, Connexus, a developer and wholesaler of telepresence, video conferencing and network gateway solutions for service providers and resellers, announced the launch of Connexus-on-Demand. Leveraging the new cloud-based offering, service providers and resellers can access Vidyo desktop videoconferencing from the cloud. The new platform from Connexus also allows small and medium sized service providers and resellers to offer Vidyo desktop videoconferencing to end users.
