New Visual Solution Allows Patients to Both Hear and See What Their Doctors Are Talking about for Better Retention

Radish Systems and Presidio, a provider of advanced IT solutions, will preview ChoiceView™, “their next-generation visual solution for mobile communications,” for remote patient support in Las Vegas February 20-24 at the HIMSS12 annual conference, according to a company press release.

Presidio and Radish Systems will show how healthcare providers can send visuals while at the same time talking to or texting patients who are at home or other locations using smart mobile devices, the press release reports.

Though it depends on the person, some research has shown that many people retain more information when they see it.  According to the US Department of Labor, “experimental psychologists and educators have found that retention of information three days after a meeting or other event is six times greater when information is presented by visual and oral means than when the information is presented by the spoken word alone.”

In addition, the OSHA report stated that studies by educational researchers have shown that almost 83 percent of human learning occurs visually.

And a study of persons who are deaf showed that they reacted more quickly than people with hearing to objects at the edge of their vision field, according to a story at sciencedaily.com.

Easy-to-understand patient support that can be seen as well as heard “is critical for increasing patient compliance and improvement while decreasing hospital readmissions,” according to the press release. "Radish Systems is pleased to partner with Presidio to demonstrate the power of ChoiceView at HIMSS12 for remote patient care," said Tom Colamonico, vice president of sales for Radish Systems, in the press release. "Healthcare providers can now communicate with mobile patients using ChoiceView to offer fast, accurate visual and voice information exchange for case and disease management, explanation of benefits, billing, wellness recommendations, and much more. ChoiceView improves patient engagements and reduces call times by delivering 'Wow, now I see what you're talking about!'™  moments."
