MedNet Leverages Oracle WebLogic Server 11g to Optimize Software Development


MedNet International a provider of software solutions to healthcare issuers announced that it is using Oracle WebLogic Server 11g to help reduce software development costs and enhance customer experience.

It was revealed by officials that MedNet required a scalable, efficient and high-performance application platform in order to support upgrades to its flagship MedNeXt+ product. It also needed an enterprise-wide solution that administers services to nearly three million members and processes U.S. $620 million in annual premiums.

In a release Gerry Raftopoulos, general manager, MedNet International Ltd. said, “We needed to upgrade our flagship product to a Web-based solution that could enable insurers to improve business performance and data management.”

Raftopoulos added, “Working closely with Oracle, we have been able to leverage Oracle WebLogic Server and other Oracle Fusion Middleware products to build a next-generation healthcare insurance management solution. As a result, we have been able to improve customer service while lowering overheads for our customers around the world.”

The company zeroed in on Oracle Fusion Middleware after careful analysis of various solutions. The Oracle solution encompasses the entire family of products, including Oracle WebLogic Server 11g, to build the foundation for a new cloud-based, configurable, out-of-the-box MedNeXt+ application.

Also this application is capable of adapting to the needs of individual health insurers, third party administrators and managed care organizations, added Oracle sources.

MedNet succeeded in reducing development time and cost using the enhanced MedNeXt+ product. It also created a flexible platform for building next-generation features With Oracle WebLogic Server 11g and other Oracle Fusion Middleware products such as Oracle Application Development Framework, Oracle JDeveloper, Oracle JRockit and Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation.

Further MedNet was able to benefit a lot from increased speed, performance and scalability of the new MedNext+ product which has enabled the company to enhance end-user performance by 20 percent and lower the cost of customer ownership, added officials.

In related company news MedNet finds mention among clinical trial management systems companies which are striving to enhance their propositions with more innovative solutions, particularly in the field of regulatory compliance. The clinical trial management systems report indicates that improvements could help pharmaceutical companies save $10 to $12 million per annum.
